680 µF bulk cap for a 1.8 V core rail
The TAJE687M002RNJ: This is a 680 µF, 2.5 V molded tantalum in the 2917 (7343 Metric) case — the E size code. At 2.5 V rated, it comfortably decouples a 1.8 V or 1.2 V supply rail with 0.7 V of headroom before the derating guideline (typically 50% of rated voltage for solid tantalums) kicks in. That is enough for a moderate-load POL converter but not a high-current ASIC core — a 10 A rail would need multiple caps in parallel or a lower-ESR polymer alternative.
This cap is suited for avionics, downhole instrumentation, or satellite bus decoupling where the ambient swings below -40°C.
KYOCERA AVX lists this part as Active. No last-time-buy deadline to manage, no forced redesign for a capacitor that is otherwise a drop-in.
