Bulk decoupling for 25 V rails
It sits on a 25 V rail — the 47 µF value provides enough charge storage to absorb transient current demands from an adjacent switching regulator or a microcontroller's I/O bank. The 900 mOhm ESR limits ripple current heating; for a 100 kHz buck converter output, the ripple current rating of this capacitor should be checked against the converter's inductor ripple to stay within the part's thermal limits.
The molded case and surface-mount 2917 package keep the part stable across thermal cycling, but the ESR will rise at cold temperatures — derate the ripple current at -55°C per the manufacturer's curve.
