220 µF / 16 V — bulk decoupling for 12 V rails
The 16 V rating gives comfortable headroom for a 12 V input rail — at 80 % derating (a common practice for tantalum reliability) the working voltage is 12.8 V, right at the nominal rail voltage. The 500 mOhm ESR is typical for a 2917-size tantalum at this capacitance. In a buck converter output filter, that ESR sets the output ripple voltage: at 1 A ripple current, expect 500 mV ripple — a low-ESR polymer or ceramic might halve that, but the tantalum's ESR is stable over temperature.
The molded 2917 (7343 Metric) package measures 7.30 mm x 4.30 mm with a seated height of 4.30 mm — the E case code.
