What this 1500 µF tantalum is for
The TAJE158K002RNJ is a molded tantalum capacitor from the TAJ series, rated 1500 µF at 2.5 V with ±10% tolerance. The 200 mOhm ESR at 100 kHz is the spec that matters for ripple current — it sets the self-heating under AC load, so a power rail with 1 A ripple sees about 200 mW of dissipation inside the part. The 2917 (7343 Metric) case, size code E, is a common footprint for high-capacitance tantalum chips — same pad layout as the standard 7343-31 tantalum, so it drops onto an existing board pattern without a footprint change. The molded epoxy body handles the thermal cycling without cracking the anode seal.
