Molded tantalum bulk decoupling for wide-temperature designs
The TAJE107K025RNJ: This is a KYOCERA AVX TAJ series molded tantalum capacitor, 100 µF at 25 V rated, in the 2917 (7343 Metric) case size. The ±10% tolerance is standard for bulk decoupling where the exact capacitance is less critical than the ESR ceiling.
Lifetime and thermal budget
Rated 2000 hours at 125°C — this is the accelerated life test condition, not the expected service life at lower temperatures. At 85°C ambient the useful life typically extends well beyond 2000 hours, but the 125°C figure is the one to budget against if your board runs hot continuously.
ESR and ripple-handling note
300 mOhm ESR at 100 kHz — this is the impedance the capacitor presents to high-frequency ripple from a switching regulator. For a buck converter running at 500 kHz, the ripple current heats the cap; the 300 mOhm figure is the one to use for the ripple-current derating calculation against the case size.
