10 µF at 50 V — the core BOM check
The TAJE106M050RNJ: This is a 10 µF tantalum capacitor rated at 50 V DC, ±20% tolerance. The 50 V rating gives headroom on a 12 V, 24 V, or even 48 V rail — the derating rule of thumb (50% of rated voltage for tantalum) still leaves 25 V working, so it suits a 24 V bus with margin. In a switching-regulator output filter, that ESR sets the output ripple voltage and the capacitor's internal temperature rise. A lower-ESR ceramic might run cooler, but this tantalum handles the same ripple with a known, stable ESR over temperature.
2917 footprint — rework and layout fit
The 2917 (7343 Metric) case is a standard tantalum footprint — 7.30 mm x 4.30 mm, seated height 4.30 mm max. Under the hot-air station, the molded body reflows cleanly at typical lead-free profiles (260 °C peak). The orientation mark (anode bar on the positive end) is molded into the case — no ambiguity on which pad gets the 50 V rail.
The molded case and tantalum construction hold capacitance and ESR across that span — no derating curve needed above 85°C as long as the applied voltage stays below the 50 V rating.
