The TAJD477M006SNJ: This is a KYOCERA AVX TAJ series molded tantalum capacitor, 470 µF ±20% at 6.3 V, in a D case 2917 (7343 metric) surface-mount package. The molded construction gives it a consistent footprint and good mechanical stability for automated pick-and-place assembly.
The 2000-hour endurance at 125°C gives a realistic lifetime ceiling for continuous high-temp operation.
ESR and ripple current — the decoupling reality
For a 470 µF cap on a 6.3 V rail, this ESR is typical for a D-case tantalum — it handles moderate ripple but will run warm if the RMS current exceeds a few hundred milliamps. Good for bulk decoupling and hold-up on low-voltage rails; less suited for high-frequency switching regulator input filtering where a lower-ESR polymer or ceramic would run cooler.
