Bulk capacitance for low-voltage rails
The TAJD477M004SNJ is a 470 µF molded tantalum capacitor rated at 4 V in the 2917 (7343 Metric) case — a common footprint for output filtering on 1.8 V or 3.3 V rails where the derating margin keeps the applied voltage below 50% of the rated voltage. The 900 mOhm ESR at 100 kHz is the figure to budget for ripple current: at 1 A ripple the self-heating is 0.9 W, which the 2917 case dissipates through the board copper — the lifetime derating curve starts at that point.
Temperature grade and field deployment
The molded case and ±20% tolerance are standard for general-purpose bulk decoupling; the 4 V rating means it fits 1.8 V and 2.5 V rails with derating, but a 3.3 V rail leaves only 0.7 V headroom — a 6.3 V or 10 V part would be safer for 3.3 V.
