900 mOhm ESR — what it means for ripple current
The 900 mOhm ESR is specified at 100 kHz. For a 330 µF capacitor, that ESR is on the higher side — it limits the ripple current the part can handle before self-heating becomes a concern. At 125°C the rated lifetime is 2000 hours, so if your application runs hot and has significant AC ripple, the ESR will dominate the thermal budget. Nominal is not absolute max; stay inside the ripple current rating on page 7 of the datasheet.
The D case (2917) footprint is standard for this capacitance range; board layout is straightforward with a 7.30 mm × 4.30 mm body and 3.10 mm seated height.
