The TAJD226M035RNJ: This is a 22 µF, 35 V tantalum capacitor in the Molded TAJ series from KYOCERA AVX. The 35 V rating gives 1.5× derating on a 24 V bus and 2.9× on a 12 V rail — enough headroom to survive the typical 5–10 % overshoot during hot-plug or load-step events without the capacitor entering DC bias derating. For a 100 kHz buck converter output, the ripple current through this cap is limited to roughly 400 mA RMS before the internal temperature rise exceeds 10°C — a useful sanity check when sizing the output filter.
The molded case handles the thermal cycling without the epoxy cracking that can plague conformally-coated tantalums in extreme environments.
Housed in the 2917 (7343 Metric) case, size code D, with dimensions 7.30 mm × 4.30 mm × 3.10 mm seated height. The 0.122 inch (3.10 mm) height fits under most low-profile components on a 1.6 mm PCB.
The part is in production and can be sourced through independent distribution.
