22 µF, 20 V, 900 mOhm ESR — what these ratings mean for your rail
The 900 mOhm ESR sets the ripple current ceiling — in a 100 kHz buck output filter, that ESR contributes roughly 18 mV of ripple per amp of ripple current, which is manageable for a 3.3 V rail but needs a check if the load steps exceed 2 A.
The 125°C upper limit also provides margin in engine-bay or industrial oven-adjacent circuits — just derate the voltage above 85°C per the TAJ series application note.
2917 (7343 Metric) surface-mount — footprint and storage
The 2917 case (7.30 mm x 4.30 mm footprint, 3.10 mm seated height) is a common tantalum D-size. The molded body is not moisture-sensitive like some polymer electrolytics — no bake-out required before reflow if the shelf seal is intact.
