Molded D-case — footprint and thermal path
The 2917 (7343 Metric) molded case is the industry-standard D-size for tantalum chips. Board footprint is 7.3 mm x 4.3 mm with a seated height of 3.1 mm max. The molded construction gives consistent dimensions for pick-and-place but does not dissipate heat as well as a conformal-coated part — the ESR-induced temperature rise must be budgeted against the 125 °C absolute limit.
