Molded tantalum for power-rail decoupling
For a 100 kHz switching regulator output, the ESR dominates the output ripple voltage; a 900 mOhm ESR with 100 mA ripple current produces 90 mV of ripple, which is within tolerance for most 3.3 V and 5 V rails.
The molded case construction provides mechanical stability and moisture resistance compared to conformally coated parts — relevant for conformal-coated assemblies or outdoor telecom enclosures where condensation is a risk.
