1500 µF bulk cap for 2.5 V rails — what the ratings mean
The TAJD158K002RNJ is a molded tantalum capacitor from the TAJ series, rated 1500 µF at 2.5 V with ±10% tolerance. That capacitance density at 2.5 V makes it a fit for bulk decoupling on 1.8 V or 2.5 V supply rails — think FPGA core voltage, DDR termination, or POL regulator output filtering where the load step demands tens of millifarads of local storage. At 1500 µF, this ESR is moderate — the cap can handle a few hundred mA of ripple before the internal temperature rise eats into the 125 °C rated ambient. For higher-ripple applications, a lower-ESR polymer tantalum or MLCC bank would be the alternative.
