The 900 mOhm ESR at 25°C sets the ripple-current ceiling. At 100 kHz, the self-heating from ripple current is I² × ESR; a 1 A ripple dissipates 0.9 W, which at 125°C ambient leaves little margin before the internal temperature exceeds the 125°C limit. For high-ripple designs, derate the ripple current or step to a lower-ESR series.
Within the TAJ series, the D-case (2917) footprint is shared across voltage and capacitance variants. A direct functional equivalent would be any other TAJ D-case 150 µF part with the same 16 V rating and ±20% tolerance, such as TAJD157M016K (K = ±10% tolerance) if tighter tolerance is needed.
