Capacitance, voltage, and package — the three numbers that decide fit
The TAJD107K006RNJ: 100 µF at 6.3 V in the 2917 (7343 Metric) case size — this is a standard-value tantalum that drops into any board already laid out for a D-case TAJ capacitor. The ±10% tolerance keeps the actual capacitance within 90–110 µF across the reel, tight enough for bulk decoupling and moderate hold-up circuits.
600 mOhm ESR at 25°C is the number to derate from when the ripple current heats the part. At 125°C the ESR roughly doubles, so the ripple current rating drops — budget 40–50% derating from the 25°C limit if the board sees sustained high temperature. At the cold end the ESR rises but the part still holds charge; at the hot end the leakage current climbs, so a 6.3 V part should not see more than 4 V DC bias at 125°C to stay inside the voltage derating guideline.
