Rework and board-fit notes for the D-case tantalum
The TAJD106M025SNJ: The 2917 (7343 Metric) D case is a standard footprint — 7.30 x 4.30 mm land pattern with a seated height of 3.10 mm. The molded body reflows cleanly; the silver-epoxy termination is solderable with a typical lead-free profile peaking at 260 °C. No special pad geometry needed beyond the manufacturer land pattern.
What the 1.2 Ohm ESR means at the bench
At 100 kHz the ESR is 1.2 Ohm. For a 10 µF cap on a 25 V rail switching at 500 kHz, the ripple current heats the part. If your circuit draws 500 mA ripple, the I²R loss is 0.3 W; the D case can shed that with a 25 °C temperature rise in still air.
The 125 °C rating is the same temperature as the 2000-hour endurance test; running at 85 °C extends life well beyond 2000 hours.
