10 µF, 50 V – molded tantalum for automotive-grade rails
The TAJD106K050TNJV is a 10 µF molded tantalum capacitor rated at 50 V, ±10% tolerance, in the 2917 (7343 Metric) case size. The 50 V rating provides headroom for common automotive and industrial rails. For an ECU or sensor module that lives under the hood, that screening reduces the field-failure risk compared to a commercial-grade tantalum.
2000-hour endurance at 125°C – derating matters
Rated lifetime is 2000 hours at 125°C, the standard JEDEC endurance for molded tantalums. In a 105°C ambient environment — typical for an engine-bay module — the capacitor sees roughly 4× life acceleration per 10°C above rated, so the expected service life extends well beyond 2000 hours. For a 125°C continuous application, plan to derate voltage by 50% (to 25 V) to stay within the safe operating area. In a switching regulator output filter, that ESR contributes to output ripple voltage — budget the ripple current squared times ESR against the self-heating limit to avoid exceeding the 125°C case temperature.
