Capacitance and voltage — bulk decoupling on a 12-48 V rail
The 50 V rating provides headroom above a 48 V nominal rail, but tantalum capacitors require voltage derating — typically 50% at 85 °C and 66% at 125 °C — so the applied voltage should not exceed 33 V at the high end of the temperature range.
The 800 mOhm ESR at 25 °C sets the ripple current rating and self-heating. The -55 to 125 °C operating range covers military and industrial environments — avionics, downhole instrumentation, satellite power buses — but the capacitance tolerance (±10%) and ESR both shift with temperature; expect ESR to rise by roughly 2× at -55 °C and drop by 0.5× at 125 °C.
Package and footprint — 2917 (7343 Metric) D case
The 2917 (7343 Metric) D case measures 7.30 mm x 4.30 mm with a seated height of 3.10 mm max. Reflow profile follows JEDEC J-STD-020 for MSL 3 — the reel must be baked if the moisture barrier bag is breached.
