Capacitance and voltage rating
The TAJC686M020SNJ: This is a 68 µF tantalum capacitor rated for 20 VDC — the capacitance and voltage are the primary selection parameters for bulk decoupling or hold-up in a DC rail. Tantalum capacitors are polarized; reverse voltage or a surge above the rated voltage can cause catastrophic failure, so the 20 V rating should be derated by at least 20% for reliable operation in a 16 V or lower rail.
Supplied on Tape & Reel (TR) for automated pick-and-place, the C case size (6032-28 metric footprint) is a standard tantalum chip that reworks cleanly under hot air. The anode (+) end is marked with a band — orientation is unambiguous. The molded epoxy body handles a 260 °C peak reflow profile per J-STD-020 without moisture sensitivity issues, assuming proper bake before rework if the part has been exposed to ambient humidity.
