6.8 µF, 50 V — the BOM line check
TAJC685M050RNJ is a molded tantalum capacitor from the TAJ series, rated 6.8 µF at 50 V with ±20% tolerance. The 50 V rating gives headroom on a 24 V or 48 V rail — the derating rule of thumb (60-80% of rated voltage for solid tantalum) still leaves margin for ripple and transients.
1 Ohm ESR at 25°C is the figure that drives ripple current capability and self-heating. In a switching-regulator output filter, a 6.8 µF cap with this ESR will handle ripple current in the tens-of-mA range before internal temperature rise becomes a concern. For higher-ripple rails, a lower-ESR polymer or multiple parallel caps would be needed.
Active production — no lifecycle concern
Listed as Active.
Case size 2312 (6032 Metric), manufacturer size code C — 6.00 mm x 3.20 mm footprint, seated height 2.80 mm max. The molded case is polarity-sensitive; the anode band marks the positive terminal on the body.
