Why the 8 Ohm ESR matters for your BOM
The TAJC474K050RNJ: This 0.47 µF tantalum is rated for 50 V with ±10% tolerance, but the 8 Ohm ESR is the spec that drives derating — it limits the ripple current the part can handle before self-heating shifts the capacitance. At -55 to +125 °C, the ESR rises further at cold temperatures, so a bypass cap in a power rail that sees high-frequency ripple needs a parallel low-ESR ceramic to share the current.
