ESR and ripple current — the decoupling trade-off
The ESR limits the self-heating — at 200 mA ripple, the internal temperature rise is about 0.04°C above ambient, negligible in most designs. If your load pulls higher ripple, you will need to parallel caps or move to a lower-ESR polymer part.
