ESR and temperature — what drives the fit
300 mOhm ESR at 100 kHz typical — this sets the ripple current rating and self-heating. For a 4 V rail with 100 mV ripple, the capacitor dissipates roughly 33 mW; the C case's thermal impedance keeps the internal temperature rise under 10°C at rated ripple. Molded construction means the epoxy case resists moisture ingress better than dipped tantalums — relevant for conformal-coated boards in humid environments. The part is general-purpose (no low-ESR or automotive screening), so it fits non-critical decoupling and hold-up roles.
