Molded tantalum for harsh-temperature boards
That range covers avionics, downhole instrumentation, and satellite power rails where the ambient swings from cold-soak to hot reflow. Rated 15 µF at 20 V with ±20% tolerance, it fits decoupling and bulk-storage roles on 12 V or 5 V rails where the derating rule (50% of rated voltage) leaves 10 V working margin.
ESR and ripple — the thermal budget
1.7 Ohm ESR at 25°C sets the self-heating floor. At 100 kHz ripple current, the I²R loss inside the part raises the internal temperature above ambient — keep the RMS ripple below the datasheet limit to stay within the 125°C ceiling.
