In a field-service kit, a loose part from the reel is fine as long as you confirm polarity — tantalum caps are polarized and the stripe marks the positive terminal. No hot-air station needed; a soldering iron and steady hands do the job.
Specialty capacitor — derating and polarity matter
Listed under Specialty Capacitors, this is a tantalum type, not a generic ceramic. Tantalum caps require voltage derating (typically 20% margin) and strict polarity observance. Reversing the voltage or running at the rated voltage without margin can lead to catastrophic failure — no lab bench needed to check, just a multimeter and a mark on the board.
