Capacitance, voltage, and ESR — the three numbers that matter
The TAJB335M025RNJ: At 3.3 µF and 25 V rated, this TAJ-series molded tantalum covers the decoupling and bulk-storage needs of a 12 V rail or a lightly loaded 24 V bus. The 3.5 Ohm ESR sets the ripple current ceiling — at 100 kHz, the self-heating from ripple current through that ESR limits the AC component to roughly 150 mA RMS before the part exceeds its 125 °C max. For a linear regulator output or a low-ripple DC rail, that ESR is fine; for a switching converter output, you would want a lower-ESR polymer or a larger case size.
The molded construction and surface-mount 1411 package mean it survives the reflow profile and the vibration environment of a missile guidance or an engine control unit — no conformal-coat compatibility issues with the epoxy body.
The TAJ series is a long-running molded tantalum line, so the B case size and 3.5 mm × 2.8 mm footprint are stable across date codes.
