Automotive-grade tantalum for under-hood decoupling
Rework and board-fit considerations
The molded body is a solid tantalum — no electrolyte to leak, but it is moisture-sensitive. Bake before reflow if the parts have been exposed to ambient humidity beyond the floor life; a standard 125°C bake for 24 hours dries the body without degrading the capacitance. The ±10% tolerance is tight enough for most filter and decoupling positions. If the BOM calls for a 22 µF cap at 16 V and the ESR target is under 3 Ohms, this part lands the spec without over-designing on a lower-ESR polymer that costs more.
