Parametric fit for the BOM line
The TAJB156M010RNJ is a 15 µF tantalum capacitor rated at 10 V with a ±20% tolerance and a 2.8 Ohm ESR. The 2.8 Ohm ESR is the parameter that governs ripple current handling — at 10 V and 85°C, the self-heating from ripple current above about 70 mA RMS will shift the failure rate upward, so derate the AC component when using this part for output filtering on a switching regulator. Capacitance stability holds within the ±20% band across most of this range, though below -55°C the capacitance may drop further — the part remains functional but the value is not guaranteed outside the datasheet limits. The molded case (Type Molded) is the standard epoxy-encapsulated surface-mount package. It withstands standard reflow profiles without moisture sensitivity issues beyond the typical MSL 3 rating for tantalum chips, so a bake before reflow is needed only if the bag humidity indicator card shows >60% RH.
Footprint and board integration
Surface-mount assembly on the 3528 pad requires a 1.2 mm x 1.8 mm solder paste aperture per terminal for a 0.15 mm stencil. The cathode band (positive terminal) is marked on the top of the molded case; polarity must be observed — reverse voltage above 1 V will cause catastrophic failure with venting or flame.
