Capacitance and voltage rating — the BOM-fit check
The TAJB106K020SNJ is a 10 µF capacitor with a 20 V DC rated voltage, ±10% tolerance. This is the standard bulk decoupling value for a 12 V or 5 V rail with margin — 20 V gives headroom above a 12 V supply, but for a 5 V rail the derating rule of thumb (50-60% of rated voltage) still leaves 8-10 V margin, comfortable for most low-ripple applications.
ESR and lifetime — what they mean on the board
ESR is 2.1 Ohm at 100 kHz. That is a mid-range value for a 10 µF tantalum in the B case size — it limits ripple current, so check the ripple current in your output filter or decoupling stage against the thermal derating curve. Lifetime is specified as 2000 hours at 125°C. This is the rated endurance under full rated voltage and temperature — at lower temperatures or reduced voltage the useful life extends significantly.
