Molded tantalum construction and temperature endurance
The 2000-hour endurance rating at 125°C means this part is suited for high-temperature environments like engine-bay electronics or industrial control modules where the ambient temperature regularly exceeds 85°C. Derating the applied voltage to 50-60% of rated 16 V is standard practice to extend operational life.
ESR and ripple current handling
With a maximum ESR of 2.8 Ohm at 100 kHz, this capacitor's internal resistance directly limits the ripple current it can handle without self-heating. For a 100 kHz switching regulator output, the ripple current rating is approximately 0.7 A RMS at 85°C; at 125°C the ripple current must be derated further to stay within the 2000-hour life target.
