1206 footprint — field-swappable
1206 (3216 Metric) case size — 3.20 mm x 1.60 mm footprint, 1.80 mm seated height. The molded body has clear polarity marking (band on the positive end), so orientation is unambiguous even without a bench microscope. Hand-solderable with a standard iron; no hot-air station required for a field swap.
ESR and lifetime at temperature
4 Ohm ESR at 100 kHz — moderate for a 4.7 µF tantalum; it limits ripple current to roughly 200 mA RMS at 125°C before self-heating becomes a concern.
