4.7 µF, 10 V, 5 Ohm ESR — what it buys the BOM
The TAJA475M010SNJ is a molded tantalum capacitor from the TAJ series, rated 4.7 µF at 10 V with a ±20 % tolerance and 5 Ohm ESR. The 10 V rating on a 4.7 µF cap in a 1206 case means you need to derate by at least 50 % for a reliable DC bias — keep the rail below 5 V to stay inside the safe operating area for solid tantalum. The 5 Ohm ESR is the thermal bottleneck — it limits ripple current in a switching supply output to roughly 140 mA RMS at 85 °C ambient before self-heating pushes the core above the derating curve. For a bulk decoupling or hold-up cap where ripple is low, the ESR is fine; for a POL converter output, look at a lower-ESR TAJ part or a polymer.

Surface-mount 1206 (3216 Metric) package, 3.20 mm x 1.60 mm footprint, max seated height 1.80 mm. The molded case gives a flat top for pick-and-place and a clear polarity mark (anode band), so orientation is obvious on the reel and on the board.
