AEC-Q200 qualified 0.33 µF tantalum for automotive and high-temp builds
The TAJA334M035TNJ: This is a molded tantalum capacitor from the TAJ series, rated 0.33 µF at 35 V with ±20% tolerance. The 2000-hour endurance at 125°C sets the thermal life budget: in an engine bay that sees 105°C ambient, the capacitor's internal temperature stays below its rated ceiling, giving margin for the full service life.
35 V rating and ESR — derating and ripple current
Tantalum capacitors require voltage derating — typically 50% of rated voltage for reliable operation. At 35 V rated, this part can be used on a 12 V rail with ample headroom, and even on a 24 V rail if derated to 50% (17.5 V applied). The 15 Ohm ESR at 100 kHz is the AC loss path; at 100 kHz ripple, a 100 mA ripple current produces 0.15 W self-heating, well within the part's thermal budget in still air.
