ESR, lifetime, and ripple-current headroom
ESR is specified at 7 Ohm @ 100 kHz — a relatively high figure for a 2.2 µF capacitor. This limits the ripple-current capability and means the voltage ripple on a buck-converter output will be dominated by ESR, not capacitance. For a 100 mA pk-pk ripple, expect roughly 700 mV of output ripple from the ESR alone. Endurance is 2000 hours at 125°C. If the ambient at the capacitor body stays below 85°C, the useful life extends well beyond the rated hours. Voltage derating to 50-60% of rated 10 V is good practice for tantalum reliability in any continuous-duty application.
