ESR and ripple — the practical limit
At 3 ohms ESR measured at 100 kHz, this cap's ripple-current handling is modest. It works well as bulk decoupling on a 16 V rail where the AC ripple is low, but for high-frequency bypass or a switching converter output, a lower-ESR tantalum or MLCC would be a better call. The 1206 case (3.20 mm x 1.60 mm) and 1.80 mm seated height fit tight layouts, but the 3-ohm ESR means the part runs warmer under ripple than a low-ESR alternative.
