Automotive-grade decoupling in a 1206 footprint
The TAJA106K006UNJ is a 10 µF ±10% molded tantalum capacitor rated at 6.3 V, built in the 1206 (3216 Metric) case from the TAJ series.
ESR and ripple current — what 4 Ohm means on the rail
For a 10 µF capacitor on a 6.3 V rail, a 4 Ohm ESR means the ripple current capability is modest — this part is best used for bulk decoupling or filtering where the AC ripple is low, not as a high-ripple output capacitor on a switching regulator. The ESR also defines the impedance at the resonant frequency; at 100 kHz the capacitor looks like 4 Ohm in series with the capacitance, so the effective filtering above a few hundred kHz is dominated by the ESR, not the capacitance.
