High-temperature endurance for harsh environments
ESR and ripple current — what the 8 Ohm means on the board
Equivalent series resistance is 8 Ohm at 100 kHz, typical for a 1206-size tantalum at 1 µF / 25 V. For decoupling applications with moderate ripple (e.g., output filter of a low-power DC-DC converter), the 8 Ohm ESR provides enough damping to avoid LC resonance peaking, but the cap's ripple current capability should be cross-checked against the converter's inductor ripple at the switching frequency.
1206 footprint — board layout fit
The 3.20 mm x 1.60 mm footprint matches the common 1206 land pattern; reflow profile follows standard tin-lead or lead-free solder paste for molded tantalum caps.
