35 F, 3 V, 20 mOhm ESR — pulse-power reserve for hold-up circuits
The SCCU30E356SRBQ is a 35 F supercapacitor rated at 3 V with a maximum ESR of 20 mOhm at 1 kHz. This combination of high capacitance and low series resistance delivers the peak current needed for short-duration backup or pulse-power events — think RTC hold-up, power-fail ride-through, or peak-load shaving in a 3 V rail. It belongs to the KYOCERA AVX SCC series, a through-hole radial-can family built for energy-storage applications where a battery is oversized or impractical. The -10%, +30% capacitance tolerance reflects the electrochemical nature of the carbon electrode; the nominal 35 F is the design target, and the actual part lands somewhere in that band.

Supplied in bulk (not tape-and-reel), so plan for manual or tube-fed insertion. The can is not hermetically sealed; store in a dry environment below 65°C to avoid electrolyte dry-out before the part sees its first power cycle.
Temperature and lifetime — 1000 hours at 65°C, derate for longer life
Rated for 1000 hours at 65°C — this is the accelerated life test condition, not the expected field life. At 40°C ambient, the same part typically runs several times longer before capacitance drops 30% or ESR doubles. Operating range is -40°C to 65°C; below -40°C the electrolyte conductivity drops and ESR rises sharply. For a 3 V rail, staying below 2.7 V derates the ageing rate roughly 2× per 0.3 V reduction — a common practice when the load can tolerate a slightly lower hold-up voltage.
