What the 3.3 F / 3 V rating means for your hold-up circuit
The SCCR20E335PRB is a 3.3 F supercapacitor rated at 3 V, part of the KYOCERA AVX SCC series. The 3.3 F capacitance at 3 V stores about 14.85 J of energy — enough to keep a real-time clock or SRAM alive through a brief mains dropout, or to supply a peak current burst for a GSM module or actuator latch. The 95 mOhm ESR at 1 kHz sets the internal heating during charge/discharge cycles. For a 1 A pulse, the I²R loss is under 100 mW, so the cell stays within its thermal budget during short-duration backup events.
Temperature and lifetime envelope
Rated for 1000 hours at 60 °C, the lifetime doubles for every 10 °C drop below that — at 25 °C the expected service life extends well beyond 10,000 hours. The operating range of -40 °C to 65 °C covers outdoor telecom cabinets and industrial control enclosures that see seasonal extremes.
Through-hole radial package and board integration
The radial can with 0.138-inch (3.50 mm) lead spacing and PC pin termination fits standard 0.1-inch prototyping grids. The 8.00 mm diameter and 22.00 mm seated height leave room for adjacent components on a densely populated board.
