The F380J476MSAAH1 is a molded tantalum capacitor from the F38 series, rated 47 µF ±20% at 6.3 V. That 47 µF at 6.3 V is a common bulk decoupling value for 3.3 V and 1.8 V rails in portable and embedded designs. The 0805 case (2.00 mm x 1.25 mm footprint, 0.90 mm seated height) fits tight PCB layouts where height is constrained.
ESR and ripple — sizing for switching regulators
ESR is 150 mOhm at 100 kHz. For a buck converter output, that ESR contributes directly to output ripple voltage — at 1 A ripple current, expect 150 mV ripple. The molded construction keeps ESR stable over temperature compared to wet electrolytics, but the 1000-hour lifetime at 85°C means the part is not intended for continuous high-temperature operation near its rated voltage.
That means no imminent obsolescence, no last-time-buy deadline. The part is available through KYOCERA AVX distribution channels.
