I/O and package — 91 pins in a 144-LQFP
The 144-pin LQFP Exposed Pad gives you 91 user-configurable I/O. That is enough for a parallel LCD interface, an external SRAM bus, and a handful of sensors or encoders.
Not suitable for outdoor telecom cabinets, engine bays, or unheated industrial floors. If your design must survive -40°C startup or 100°C ambient, step up to an industrial-temp Cyclone IV E part such as the EP4CE10U14I7N.
The EP4CE6E22C8 carries an EOL-hot lifecycle marker. While the manufacturer still lists the product status as active, the EOL-hot flag signals that a discontinuation notice is imminent or already issued. This is a last-time-buy window part — do not design it into a new BOM unless you have a firm LTB commitment and a clear migration path. For production runs, a pin-compatible alternative does not exist in the same package; the closest functional sibling is the EP4CE6F17C8N (same logic density, 179 I/O, different package/footprint).
