Fixed 5V rail for automotive modules
The Infineon TLS850C2TEV50ATMA1 is a single-output positive linear regulator from the OPTIREG family, delivering a fixed 5V at up to 500mA.
Package and thermal environment
Housed in a TO-252-5 (DPak) with a tab for heat sinking. Junction temperature range spans -40°C to 150°C, so it handles under-hood ambient and self-heating at 500mA with proper PCB copper area. The tab is the ground path — ensure a low-thermal-resistance connection to the board plane.
Built-in over-current and over-temperature protection. A reset output is included — this open-drain flag asserts when the output drops out of regulation, which can drive a microcontroller reset or a supervisory input. Quiescent current is 30 µA typical, rising to 42 µA maximum, so it is suitable for always-on modules with a small battery drain budget.
