Eight half bridges in a 24-pin TSSOP — what that means for a motor-control BOM
The Infineon TLE94108ESXUMA1 packs eight half-bridge outputs into a PG-TSDSO-24 package with an exposed pad for thermal management. Each switch — high-side and low-side — carries a typical 1.3 Ohm on-resistance. The SPI and PWM interface gives a controller direct per-channel duty-cycle control and diagnostic readback. An integrated charge pump generates the gate-drive voltage above the supply rail, so the low Rds(on) holds even as the battery voltage sags toward 3V.
Junction temperature and fault handling — the error budget in a hot enclosure
Rated for a junction temperature range of -40°C to 150°C, this driver is built for under-hood or engine-bay environments. The exposed pad on the PG-TSDSO-24 package must be soldered to a copper plane to keep the die temperature inside the 150°C ceiling when all eight channels are switching. Fault protection covers current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, and short-circuit detection. That trio catches the common failure modes in a motor-drive output stage: a stalled rotor, a phase-to-ground short, or a lost heatsink path.
Lifecycle and compliance — active, no LTB clock ticking
The TLE94108ESXUMA1 carries an active lifecycle status and is ROHS3 compliant. The ROHS3 compliance covers the full substance restriction list, which matters for EU and UKCA declarations of conformity.
