Product details

The CoolMOS series is an established Infineon platform with broad distribution support, which helps with multi-source availability through independent channels.

Mounting and thermal — TO-220 in a power stage

In a typical 600 V, 10 A flyback or PFC stage, expect to bolt this to a TO-220 clip or screw-mount heatsink with thermal compound. The gate threshold is 5 V max at 1.2 mA, so a 10 V gate drive is needed to achieve the rated Rds(on); a 5 V logic-level drive will not fully enhance the channel.

Frequently asked questions

Does SPP24N60CFD require a heatsink?

At the rated 21.7 A continuous drain current, the 185 mOhm on-resistance produces about 87 W of conduction loss. A heatsink is required to keep the junction temperature within the -55°C to 150°C range; the TO-220 package is designed for bolt-on heatsink mounting.
