256 Mbit parallel NOR flash — the XIP workhorse
The Infineon S29GL256P90TFCR10 is a 256 Mbit parallel NOR flash from the GL-P family, organized as 32M x 8 bits with a 90 ns access time. NOR flash's random-read latency is fast enough for execute-in-place (XIP) code execution — the CPU fetches instructions directly from flash without copying to RAM first. The parallel interface delivers sustained read throughput limited by the 90 ns access cycle, suitable for boot firmware, configuration storage, and code shadowing in embedded systems.
56-TSOP footprint and supply rails
Housed in a 56-TSOP package (18.40 mm body width, surface-mount), the part mates with standard NOR flash layouts — the same footprint serves many 256 Mbit and 512 Mbit parallel NOR parts. The write cycle time matches the read access at 90 ns per word or page. Operating temperature is commercial grade: 0 °C to 85 °C. This covers most indoor and telecom-equipment ambient conditions, but not extended industrial or automotive ranges.
Active lifecycle, no LTB pressure
RoHS3 compliant — no restricted substances above the threshold limits for lead, mercury, cadmium, or the phthalates under EU Directive 2015/863.
