Active 64Mbit SPI NOR Flash for extended-temperature designs
The S25FS064SAGBHN020 is a 64Mbit SPI NOR Flash from Cypress's FS-S series, organized as 8M x 8 bits. It supports Quad I/O and QPI interfaces at a 133 MHz clock rate, delivering sustained read throughput for code-shadowing and data-logging applications.
Supply voltage and interface flexibility
Operates from a 1.7 V supply rail, which aligns with low-voltage SoC and FPGA banks that cannot tolerate a 3.3 V flash interface without a level shifter. The Quad SPI and QPI modes let the host read four bits per clock cycle, so the effective throughput at 133 MHz reaches 66 MB/s — enough to feed a Cortex-M7 instruction cache without wait-state penalties.
Package and board integration
Supplied in a 24-ball BGA (BGA-24) on tray. The 0.80 mm ball pitch requires a four-layer PCB for fan-out; the centre thermal pad should be connected to the ground plane to keep the die temperature within the 125°C limit during sustained reads. Surface-mount assembly with standard lead-free reflow profile. The BGA package is moisture-sensitive — store the reels in a dry cabinet or bake per J-STD-033 before reflow if the floor life has been exceeded.
