512 Mbit SPI NOR Flash in a 16-SOIC wide body
The Cypress S25FL512SAGMFIR11 is a 512 Mbit serial NOR Flash memory from the FL-S family, organized as 64M x 8 bits. It communicates over a SPI bus with Quad I/O support, clocked at up to 133 MHz.
At 133 MHz with Quad I/O, this part can sustain read throughput high enough for execute-in-place (XIP) from Flash on many MCUs and SoCs that support Quad-SPI memory-mapped mode. The 512 Mbit density (64 MB) holds a full firmware image plus a fallback or OTA staging partition.
The FL-S family has been a long-running serial NOR series, so PCN risk is low, but always check the latest Cypress/Infineon PCN bulletins before a long production run.
16-SOIC wide — rework-friendly footprint
The leads are gull-wing, so visual inspection of solder joints is straightforward. No exposed pad underneath, so no thermal-via stencil to worry about.
