Active 256 Mbit NOR flash with Quad I/O
The S25FL256SDPMFIG00 is an active-production 256 Mbit NOR flash from Infineon's FL-S series, organized as 32M x 8 bits and accessed over a SPI interface with Quad I/O support. The 66 MHz clock rate yields a sequential read throughput around 33 MB/s in quad mode — fast enough for execute-in-place (XIP) boot code or firmware shadowing to SRAM.
16-SOIC footprint and rework reality
The 1.27 mm pitch is hand-solder friendly and does not require X-ray inspection — a rework tech can replace it with a hot-air station and tweezers. The SOIC-16 wide footprint is shared across many NOR flash densities, so a board layout can often accept a drop-in replacement from the same family without a respin. Supplied in tray packaging, which is the typical format for volume production pick-and-place.
