128 Mbit NOR Flash with Quad SPI — active and in production
The S25FL128SDPMFV001 is an Infineon FL-S series 128 Mbit NOR Flash memory organized as 16M x 8. Operating from 2.7V to 3.6V and rated over -40°C to 105°C, this part fits industrial and extended-temperature designs — motor drives, outdoor telecom, or automotive body electronics where the flash must retain code through thermal cycling. The 16-SOIC package (0.295" body width, 7.50 mm) is a common footprint for NOR Flash, easy to route on two-layer boards and rework with standard hot-air profiles. The supplier device package is 16-SOIC.
Quad SPI throughput and memory organization
Quad I/O mode reads four bits per clock cycle, so at 66 MHz the theoretical peak read throughput is 33 MB/s — enough to feed a Cortex-M or low-end application processor without waiting on a slower SPI bus. The 16M x 8 organization maps directly to byte-addressable code storage. Compared to a standard SPI NOR at the same clock rate (single-bit read), the Quad I/O interface quadruples the sustained read bandwidth — a meaningful gain when the MCU boots from flash or when code is fetched from external memory during firmware updates.
For production BOMs, this part does not trigger a single-source risk flag today.
